Our sustainability journey
For people, for the planet
Food is an experience. Food is health. Food is discovery. Food is culture, and so much more. Because food is such an important part of our lives, we’re on a mission to make food that’s good in every sense of the word: good for people and good for the planet.

Answering the call for positive change
How can we preserve our planet’s health, while giving people improved access to food that’s good in every sense of the word: tasty, nutritionally balanced and more sustainable. We’ve put this era-defining challenge at the very core of our business. It determines how we want to grow with our customers, the way we operate, which innovations to pursue, how we source, how we take care of our people, and so on.
“Our central position in the food system gives us the opportunity to develop food that is not only better for consumers but is also less impactful on our environment. By working proactively with our suppliers and customers, we want to contribute to a more resilient and responsible food system that is foundational for our longer term performance.”

Sustainable Food System
The best place to start accelerating our sustainability efforts is right at the beginning of our value chain, at farm level. By promoting sustainable farming practices, we avoid land degradation, preserve water resources, foster biodiversity, redress social inequalities, create safe working places, improve animal welfare, and more. Moreover, we prioritize the highest quality and food safety standards at every step—from design and development to sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, and final delivery. This is how we contribute to establishing a sustainable food system.
Environmental impact
About 25% of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions are linked to food. At Solina, we’re taking responsibility for the impact we have on our entire value chain. To demonstrate this, we have signed our commitment to the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi).
Innovations & Solutions
There is a clear connection between the food we eat, our personal health, and its impact on the environment. That is why Solina wants to be the partner of choice when it comes to developing tastier, more nutritional and more sustainable food solutions. To do so, we focus on better nutrition, more plant-based options and less food waste. At the same time, we ensure those food solutions are sustainably packaged. It’s a way of supporting our customers in achieving their sustainability goals.
People & Culture
The success of a company depends on its people. That is why we want to be an employer of choice for the brightest and most passionate minds in the food industry. Offering a positive and diverse workplace culture, strong values, and a supportive environment that helps them to grow both professionally and personally.
Performance & Reporting
Successfully managing and executing a sustainability strategy requires a robust governance structure. One that facilitates decision making and considers the long term impact of actions and policies, while helping the company to measure and track performance. In 2023, we received a bronze EcoVadis medal for our sustainability efforts and we’ll step things up in 2024 and beyond.
